Weekend Events – June 15th – 16th


It may not officially be summer yet, but that heat is here! Along with the sun comes lots of fun, family-friendly events. This weekend there will be a chance to see professional skateboarders showing off their skills at our new skatepark, and Becker Ave will be transformed into a rainbow of colors!

Saturday, June 15th

Blue Star Mothers of Valencia County Meeting – 9am – Daniel D. Fernandez Memorial Park – The Blue Star Mothers of Valencia County meets at 9 a.m. on the third Saturday of each month at Daniel D. Fernandez Memorial Park in Los Lunas.

Guitar Lessons – 10am – Belen Public Library – Children’s guitar lessons taught by musician Tony DeNardo.

Art in the Park – 11am – 3pm – Anna Becker Park – Amazing Artists selling Their Beautiful Creations. Food truck(s), Coffee truck. Sign up for Vendors is now open.

Colors on Parade – 12pm – 5pm – 508 Becker Ave. – The Belen Art League and Studio 508 present Colors on Parade on Saturday, June 15th noon – 5pm.Gallery Specials, Sidewalk Chalk Drawing, Indoor and Outdoor Vendors, Art Shows, Indoor Mercado Craft Fair, Exhibits

Rainbow Walk – 12pm – 6pm – Becker Ave. – Megan Malcom-Morgan (3M) hosts the Fourth Annual Rainbow Walk on Becker Avenue in Belen, New Mexico. The events take place at the intersection of Becker Avenue and Second Street, a destination for site-specific and innovative art. Megan Malcom-Morgan’s experimental art practices and temporary installations include a vibrant display of color in motion that unfolds as a rainbow with aerial chalk, textile land art and a photography exhibition featuring artist Daniel O. Montaño at Central Parlour and in collaboration with Jaramillo Vineyards Wine Tasting Room.

🌈 12pm to 6pm: Daniel O. Montaño “Wo/Man of the House” at Central Parlour (next to Jaramillo Wine Tasting Room)

🌈 12pm to 6pm: Textile land art “Color in Motion” at Becker Avenue and Second Street

Daniel O. Montaño “Wo/Man of the House” – 12pm 6pm – 114 Becker Ave – Daniel O. Montaño (B. Las Vegas, NM) presents a solo photographic exhibition “Wo/Man of the House” from 12-6pm. Exhibition curated by Megan Malcom-Morgan and hosted by The GRID Gallery for a special pop-up exhibition at 114 Becker Ave Belen, New Mexico during Rainbow Walk. Artist Reception 4-6pm

Ribbon Cutting Eagle’s Nest Skatepark – 2pm – 4pm – 305 Eagle Lane – The festivities will kick off at 2:00 PM with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by city officials, who will share their thoughts on this exciting project. Additionally, professional skaters Cody McEntire and Julia Brueckler will provide insights into the park’s design process and show off their amazing skills!

Sunday, June 16th

Historic Tomé Jail and Casita Open to the Public – 11am – 3pm – Historic Tomé Jail – The town of Tomé Land Grant invites the public to visit the historic jail and casita at the Tomé Church Plaza, 18 Church Loop. Visitors are welcomed from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Sunday.
