Weekend Events Dec. 13th – 15th


This weekend is full of amazing holiday events and activities! There are lots of opportunities to see beautiful lights, the 37th Annual Miracle on Main Street arrives, carollers will be at the Harvey House, and several Christmas concerts and parties are planned! Check out all of the fun below and have a safe and happy weekend!

Friday, December 13th

Special Orchestra Performance – 3pm – 4:30pm – Belen Public Library – The Valencia County chapter of the New Mexico Special Orchestra performs on the second Friday of each month from 3-4:30 p.m. at the Belen Public Library, 333 Becker Ave. in Belen.

1st Annual Christmas Light Display – 5pm – 12am – 202 A DeSoto Ave, Belen, NM – Please join us for the First Annual Christmas Light Display happening in the town of Belen! Going on until January 1st from dusk until midnight. This display features over 25,000 LED lights, a 7-foot manger with angel, a 20-foot snowman, and much more! Santa Claus will be making an appearance every Friday and Saturday night from 6pm – 8pm weather permitting. Candy canes and little gifts will be handed out to the kids. (Read More)

Living Christmas Lights – 5pm – 12am – First Baptist Church – The sights and sounds of Christmas are emanating at the First Baptist Church Belen, Fourth Street and Becker Ave., from dusk to midnight until Tuesday, Dec. 31. Pull into the parking lot, tune your radio to 107.7 and enjoy.

The Christmas Story – 6pm – New Life Fellowship – A fun evening of food and fellowship while we discover The Christmas Story.

Saturday, December 14th

Miracle on Main Street – 10am – 7pm – Becker Ave and Main St. – The 37th Annual Miracle on Main Street will be held on December 14th. There will be a Christmas Craft Fair with Food and Music from 10am – 5pm on Becker Ave, hosted by the Belen Art League. The parade will be at 6pm on Main Street.

Guitar Lessons – 10am – noon – Belen Public Library – Guitar lessons are offered at 10 a.m. every Saturday at the Belen Public Library. Lessons are also free and open to the public, ages 5-15. Guitars are available for children to use during the lessons, and to check-out so they can practice at home.

Army Navy Game Watch Party Pot Luck – 12pm – Secundino Baldonado American Legion Post 81 – Come hang out at Post 81 to watch Army-Navy Game. Post will Provide some dishes but we ask folks to bring their favorite side dishes for this tailgate-style party. We will have the best dish competition and Quarter Giveaways

Open Meeting – Valencia Community Action Network(VCAN) – 3pm – 5pm – Meadow Lake Community Center – The Valencia Community Action Network, a local nonprofit, will hold an open meeting from 3-5 p.m. on the second Saturday of the month at the Meadow Lake Community Center, 100 Cuerro Lane.

Christmas Concert – 3pm – First United Methodist Church – A Christmas concert will be held at the Methodist Church, 75 Manzano Expressway, Rio Communities, at 3 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 14. The cost is $10 at the door.

Belen Harvey House Museum Presents the Young at Heart Choir – 7:30pm – Belen Harvey House Museum – There will be a Holiday Concert on Saturday, 12/14/2024, at 7:30pm (following Belen’s Miracle on Main St. Parade). Arrive early for the annual Whistle Stop Cafe Holiday Bake Sale! The sale will start at 6pm and will feature: Old World Christmas Market with Artisan Bread Makers, Master Weavers, Soap makers, and the new Harvey House Gift Shop. Admission is by donation to benefit the Young at Heart Carolers.

Sunday, December 15th

Historic Tomé Jail and Casita Open to the Public – 11am – 3pm – Historic Tomé Jail – The town of Tomé Land Grant invites the public to visit the historic jail and casita at the Tomé Church Plaza, 18 Church Loop. Visitors are welcomed from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Sunday.

Christmas Program – 11am – First Presbyterian Church – The First Presbyterian Church, 85 Manzano Expressway, Rio Communities, will have its annual Christmas program at 11 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 15. There will be holiday music from the children, adults (quartets, duets and solos) and a congregational singing along with the reading of the birth of Jesus. The program will be followed by fellowship serving desserts and refreshments. All are welcome.

Visit with the Clauses – 1pm – 3pm – Rio Communities City Hall – The Rio Communities Optimist Club invites all to come and have cookies and hot chocolate with Mr. and Mrs. Claus at the annual visit with Santa event from 1-3 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 15, at Rio Communities City Hall, 360 Rio Communities Blvd.
