Friday, August 2nd
Belen Back to School Vaccinations – 9am – 4pm – Belen Public Health Dept – NMHealth’s Belen Public Health Office will be providing no cost back-to-school vaccinations for all children aged 18 and younger regardless of whether they are a patient or have insurance. Southwest Women’s Conference – The Southwest Women’s Conference, “Foundations,” will be August 2nd and 3rd! Come learn from teachings based on Acts 2:42 – “And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.”
Registration on Friday is from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with the conference starting at 6:00 PM. We will have food trucks, and a Boba truck on Friday night. The Grounded Coffee Shop will be open for coffee and desserts. Grounded Bookstore will also be open and everything will be 25% off! Come and join us! Back to School Kickoff – 10am – 12pm – Anna Becker Park – The NM PED Black Education Act Bureau is hosting a Back to School Kickoff at Anna Becker Park on Saturday, August 3rd from 10am – 12pm. There will be a backpack and school supply giveaway.
Benefit Car Wash – 10am – Rio Grande Fire House – Join us in supporting an injured first responder and get your vehicle or unit cleaned! August 3rd beginning at 10am. We will have baked goods, t-shirts, and stickers for sale along with severaprizes to be raffled including a 32 inch tv for $10 a ticket! Winners do not need to be present to win. Historic Tomé Jail and Casita Open to the Public – 11am – 3pm – Historic Tomé Jail – The town of Tomé Land Grant invites the public to visit the historic jail and casita at the Tomé Church Plaza, 18 Church Loop. Visitors are welcomed from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Sunday.
Shaping Light: the Art of Glass – 11am – 5pm – Tomé Art Gallery – Tomé Gallery will exhibit a range of glass art. The glass art exhibit will run from Aug. 4 thru Sept. 4 , 2024 and will show a wide range of techniques in glass art. Opening Reception, First Sunday in Aug., will include hands-on activities for children and adults, as well as snacks and beverages. Come see what local artists are making with one of the oldest materials. And try your hand at making glass art.
