Weekend Events – Aug. 9th – 11th


Are you ready for a weekend jam-packed with things to do? If so, this weekend promises to be just what you need! A City Yard Sale, a Sporting Goods Sale, Art Shows, chances to get out in nature, and SO MUCH MUSIC! The Belen Music Walk is Saturday and you won’t want to miss it, the Special Orchestra performs on Friday, and more!

Friday, August 9th

Belen Back to School Vaccinations – 9am – 4pm – Belen Public Health Office – NMHealth’s Belen Public Health Office will be providing no cost back-to-school vaccinations for all children aged 18 and younger regardless of whether they are a patient or have insurance. Appointments are preferred. To make an appointment or get additional information call the Belen Public Health Office at 505-864-7743. (More Info)

Shaping Light: the Art of Glass – 11am – 5pm – Tomé Art Gallery  – Tomé Gallery will exhibit a range of glass art. The glass art exhibit will run from Aug. 4 thru Sept. 4 , 2024 and will show a wide range of techniques in glass art. 

Special Orchestra Performance – 3pm – 4:30pm – Belen Public Library – The Valencia County chapter of the New Mexico Special Orchestra performs on the second Friday of each month from 3-4:30 p.m. at the Belen Public Library, 333 Becker Ave. in Belen.

Belen Farmers’ Market – 4:30pm – 7pm – Anna Becker Park – Come out and support our local farmers! Fresh fruits and vegetables will be available at the Belen farmers market.

Saturday, August 10th

City of Belen Yard Sale – 8am – 12pm – City Hall Parking Lot – The City of Belen Yard Sale is back! August 10th, 17th, and 24th from 8am – noon. Reserve your space to sell for only $25 per day! Call 505-966-2737 or 505-966-2702. There will be concessions! The proceeds from space rentals, concessions, and items sold by the City will go to our Employee Appreciation Committee. Come on out and support our hardworking City staff!

Sporting Goods Sale – 8:00am – 1pm – Anna Becker Park – This is the opportunity to come sell all your kids gently used sports equipment or gently used work out equipment. You are also welcome to donate sports and wellness items to Belen Pop Warner Football and Cheer will sell them, all proceeds will go to our young athletes. If you would like to set up a table to sell items contact Cassandra Johnson @ 505-306-2958. We are just asking for a 10% donation as a set up fee. (More Info)

Butterfly County at Sevilleta – 9am – Sevilleta National Wildlife Refuge – No experience necessary. Starting at 9 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 10, at the Visitors Center at Sevilleta National Wildlife Refuge will hold a butterfly count event. If you love butterflies and would like to participate in the count, they would be happy to have volunteers; no experience necessary. Open Meeting: VCAN – 3pm – 5pm – Meadow Lake Community Center – The Valencia Community Action Network, a local nonprofit, will hold an open meeting from 3-5 p.m. on the second Saturday of the month at the Meadow Lake Community Center, 100 Cuerro Lane.

Belen Music Walk – 3pm – 9pm – Becker Ave – Local Music Acoustic Acts in the Belen Art District ending with a street dance with The Daniel Solis Band & Friends! Daytime Music Walk welcomes all at no cost. The end of the evening will conclude with a street dance at 7pm. This will be $10 at the gate. children 12 & under free. Enjoy the evening with dancing, Wine & Beer Garden, and delicious food truck and sweets!! All Ages Welcome!! (More Info)

Cornhole Tournament and Meet & Greet with Rep. Tanya Mirabal Moya – 3pm – 6pm – Fat Sat’s Bar & Grill – Come and meet Representative Tanya Mirabal Moya while we compete in a cornhole tournament. Fat Sat’s Bar & Grill is an amazing venue where you can enjoy a beverage and the many food trucks. All ages welcome. (More Info)

Aaron Solis: Belen Music Walk – 5:30pm – 6:30pm – Belen Public Library patio – As part of the Belen Music Walk 2024, Aaron Solis will be performing at the Belen Public Library Patio from 5:30-6:30pm on August 10.

Belen Music Walk Finale: Daniel Solis Band – 7pm – 9pm – Main Stage at Becker Ave and 2nd St – All Ages Event at the Main stage on Becker Ave and 2nd St. from 7 -9pm, $10 cover, wine and beer garden courtesy of Jarmillo Winery and Hub City Brewing Company, featuring the music of the Daniel Solis Band.

Sunday, August 11th

Historic Tomé Jail and Casita Open to the Public – 11am – 3pm – Historic Tomé Jail – The town of Tomé Land Grant invites the public to visit the historic jail and casita at the Tomé Church Plaza, 18 Church Loop. Visitors are welcomed from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Sunday.
