The season of giving is upon us and we have gathered information for Belen families for local resources, food baskets, toy drives, etc. If you have a resource that is not listed here, please let us know.
The holiday season is fast approaching and our Police Department is launching the 2023 Cops for Tots program! This program provides donated gifts to children ages 0 – 12 in our community.

Donations
If you would like to donate please bring a new, unwrapped gift that is suitable for a child from newborn to 12 years old. We will start taking donations this Wednesday, November 8th and continue through December 15th.
Donations can be dropped off at the following locations:
- Belen Walmart
- Belen Family Dollar locations
- Belen Dollar General
- Belen Police Department
- Calvary Chapel
- Belen City Hall
Sign Up Your Children
Also starting on November 8th and continuing through December 15th is the sign up for children who would like to receive gifts. Please visit the Belen Police Department at 607 Becker Ave Monday – Friday from 8am – 5pm to register. Children must be ages 0 – 12 and a proof of Belen residency will be required.

Thanksgiving Food Basket Giveaway – VFW Chavez-Curran Post 2387
The VFW Chavez-Curran Post 2387 will be distributing 25 Thanksgiving Food Baskets to families in need. The giveaway is first-come-first-served and will take place at the Post – 122 S 5th St. Belen, NM on Monday, November 20th from 10am – 12pm.

Applications
The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) will start taking applications to help those in need with a Thanksgiving Day Food Basket. You MUST be in the Belen School District in order to receive a basket. Please apply at the Belen Business Center within the following dates and times listed below and bring all required documents.

Times
Monday – Friday from 8am – 12pm and 1pm – 5pm
Required Documents
- Proof of Residence
- Proof of Income for Entire Household
- Photo ID
- Birth Cerificate or Medicaid Card for Each Child in Household.

If you would like to make a donation for the Thanksgiving Baskets, please bring in your non-perishable goods to the RSVP Office located in the Belen Business Center 719 S Main St Belen, NM 87002.
