Friday, October 4th

Maya Chacon Art Exhibit – 9am – 5pm – UNM-Valencia Campus Fine Arts Gallery – The gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The UNM-Valencia Campus Fine Arts Gallery, 280 La Entrada Road, Tomé, is hosting the “Behind the Medicine Cabinet” art exhibit by Maya Chacon. The show runs from Sept. 9 through Oct. 10.

Red or Green? – 11am – 5pm – Tomé Art Gallery – Tomé Art Gallery’s annual Red or Green? Show will run until Oct. 4 and will feature both red and green chile art as well as red and green art. Tomé Art Gallery is located at 2930 N.M. 47, and is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday-Saturday.

Annual St. Francis Spay, Neuter, and Vaccine Clinic – 1pm – 4:30pm – Yucca Veterinary Medical Center – Yucca Veterinary Medical Center is holding its 11th annual St. Francis spay and neuter and vaccine clinic from 1-4:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 4, at the clinic, 1837 Camino Del Llano, Belen. Rabies and distemper Parvo or rabies and feline respiratory annual vaccines will be $23. This offer is available for one day only. Call, 505-864-6001, to make an appointment.

Belen Farmers’ Market – 4:30pm – 7pm – Anna Becker Park – Come out and support our local farmers! Fresh fruits and vegetables will be available at the Belen farmers’ market.

Valencia County Candidate Debates – 5pm – 7pm – Los Lunas Transportation Center – Don’t miss the Candidate Debates coming up! The first one is this Friday from 5-7pm at the Belen Public Library and next Friday, October 4th, from 5-7pm at the Los Lunas Transportation Center. These are being held by the non-partisan Community Advocacy Team – CAT. The following contested seats have been invited to the debate:

  • County Commission District 2
  • Country Commission District 4
  • County Treasurer
  • County Clerk

Saturday, October 5th

Golf Tournament – 8am – Tierra del Sol Golf ClubEntry deadline was Friday, Sept. 27. The Rio Communities Optimist Club will host its sixth annual golf tournament on Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Tierra del Sol Golf Club. Registration begins at 8 a.m., with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Historic Tomé Jail and Casita Open to the Public – 11am – 3pm – Historic Tomé Jail – The town of Tomé Land Grant invites the public to visit the historic jail and casita at the Tomé Church Plaza, 18 Church Loop. Visitors are welcomed from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Sunday.
