Belen Art League Presents Fall 2024 Gallery Show – 12pm – 5pm – Belen Art League – Join us for free admission to the world of mixed media art creations featuring local talented artists.

STEAM at the Library: What’s Your Blood Type? – 3:30pm – Belen Public Library – STEAM learning experience, all your questions about blood, answered! Sponsored by Meta.

Belen Farmers’ Market – 4:30pm – 7pm – Anna Becker Park – Come out and support our local farmers! Fresh fruits and vegetables will be available at the Belen farmers market.

Valencia County Candidate Debates – 5pm – 7pm – Belen Public Library – Don’t miss the Candidate Debates coming up! The first one is this Friday from 5-7pm at the Belen Public Library and next Friday from 5-7pm at the Los Lunas Transportation Center. These are being held by the non-partisan Community Advocacy Team – CAT. The following contested seats have been invited to the debate: County Commission District 2 – County Commission District 4 – County Treasurer – County Clerk.

Saturday, September 28th

2nd Annual Rio Abajo Poker Run – 9am – 1:30pm – Dalies & Main – La Merced Mooseriders and the Greater Valencia County Chamber present the 2nd Annual Rio Abajo Poker Run! It will start and end at Dalies at Main Street in Belen on Saturday, September 28th. Registration is from 9 am – 10 am and the Last Hand Drawn will be at 1:30 pm. Puppies & Pizza – 10am – 3pm – Railroad Employees Credit Union – The Valencia County Animal Shelter is offering $50 adoption at a Puppies & Pizza event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Railroad Employees Credit Union, 300 N. Sixth St., Belen. The event will include puppies, pizza, giveaways and local vendors.

Rio Abajo – Becker Street Festival – 11am – 9pm – Becker Ave. – The Greater Valencia County Chamber of Commerce announces the 2024 Rio Abajo Becker Street Festival! Music, Art, Cars, Food Trucks, Wine and Beer Tent! Community Poetry – 12pm – 3pm – Red Brick Building 513 Becker Ave – New Mexico Poet Laureate Lauren Camp and the New Mexico Arts Executive Director Michell Laflamme-Childes will host a poetry reading and writing event at 12 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 28, in the Red Brick Building next to Books on Becker. Camp will read a short selection of poems, followed by a poetry open mic. The event will conclude with a crowd-sourced community poem-writing exercise.

Public Art Community Workshop – 1pm – 3pm – Belen Public Library – On Saturday, 9/28 there will be an Exhibition of Community Art at Rio Abajo Becker Street Festival.

Sunday, September 29th

Historic Tomé Jail and Casita Open to the Public – 11am – 3pm – Historic Tomé Jail – The town of Tomé Land Grant invites the public to visit the historic jail and casita at the Tomé Church Plaza, 18 Church Loop. Visitors are welcome from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Sunday.
